Loup Canyon, nice scenery and authentic medieval perched villages away from beaten tourist tracks

page under construction
The canyon of Loup is not as impressive as Verdon canyon but it is quite close and charming. Loup is the name of the river; it means wolf. The road is narrow and along a high cliff but it is gorgeous.

Tourette/Loup is a village perched off the cliff. If you like authenticity, you will prefer it to its twin, St Paul de Vence.

In Pont du Loup where you can visit a factory making crystallised fruits and flowers.

You can discover off-the-beaten track typical villages, Cipieres. Greolieres with its two ruined castles and abbey and its baroque church, and in-between a bridge dating from the Roman time, Coursegoule, a charming little village nested in a valley & the moon-like landscape of Col de Vence with breathtaking viewpoints on the Mediterranean;

From the Terraces of Gourdon you can enjoy an extraordinary view from Cannes to Italy. The XVIIth century castle has great gardens.

Bar/Loup is a cute medieval village, and hometown of Admiral of Grasse who fought with Washington and won the Cheasapeek battle on September 5th 1781.

Grasse is the perfume capital. It has also interesting museums, on perfume, Fragonard painter, traditional costumes and jewels, marine museum in the house of Grasse earl.

Close to Grasse a few villages (Cabris, Speracedes, St Cezaire/Siagne, …) have very elegant campaniles. The Grottoes of St Cezaire are interesting & great for spelunking.
